On-page SEO

About this tool.

A hyperlink is the clickable text that takes a visitor, and a search engine, from one page to another. The words you click (the anchor text) tell Google what the next page is about, and the rel setting tells it how much to trust the link. This tool writes the code correctly, escapes special characters, adds noopener when a link opens in a new tab, and warns about vague text such as "click here", plain http addresses and relative paths that will break outside your site.

How to use it
  1. Choose whether the link opens a web page, an email or a phone call. Type the address and the text people will click, or switch on several links at once.
  2. Tick the settings you need: nofollow, sponsored or ugc for paid and user-posted links, new tab, class or ID. Read the checks for anything weak.
  3. Pick HTML, Markdown or React, then copy the code or download it and paste it into your page.

Checks
  • Add an address and the text people will click, and your link appears here.

Good to know: Use plain, descriptive anchor text, such as "see our pricing plans", and keep it short. Leave normal links to your own pages and trusted sources as they are. Mark paid and affiliate links as sponsored, and links in comments as ugc, as Google asks. Use a new tab only when it helps, since many phone users dislike it.

Questions

Good to know.

What is the difference between nofollow, sponsored and ugc?+
They are hints that tell Google how the link came about. Use sponsored for paid placements and affiliate links, ugc for links added by users in comments or forums, and nofollow when you do not want to vouch for the page and none of the other two fits. Google treats all three as hints rather than strict rules.
Do I need rel="noopener" on links that open in a new tab?+
Modern browsers already treat target="_blank" links as noopener, but older ones do not. Adding it is safe, and this tool does it for you whenever you turn on the new tab option.
What makes good anchor text?+
A short phrase that tells the reader and Google what they will find, such as "teeth whitening prices". Avoid "click here", "read more" and bare web addresses. Do not stuff the same keyword into every link, because varied, natural wording looks more trustworthy.
How do I make a click-to-call or email link?+
Choose Phone or Email at the top. A phone link starts with tel: and works best with the country code, like +91. An email link starts with mailto: and can pre-fill a subject and message. Both open the visitor's own app.
Why does the Markdown output leave out some settings?+
Markdown has no way to write rel, target, class or ID. If you need those, use the HTML or React format. Plain Markdown links are fine for most blog text.
Is what I type sent anywhere?+
No. The code is built inside your browser. The preview shows your link, but clicking it is switched off, so nothing opens or loads from this page.
